Cornwall woman’s charges include unlawful use of credit card, theft

A Cornwall woman arrested on Wednesday faces charges of theft and unlawful use of a credit card.

The Cornwall Police Service, in its Thursday morning edition of the CPS Daily News, alleged that Amanda Lalonde, 38, was back in late June entered the residence of someone she did not know without permission.

It is further alleged that during this time she took a wallet belonging to someone she did not know and used the victim’s bank card to make a purchase.

On Wednesday, Lalonde was located by police and taken into custody. Lalonde’s charges include unlawfully in a dwelling and breach of probation order (for failing to keep the peace).

She was released to appear in court on September 13.

ASSAULT

Richard Dion, 59, of Cornwall, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with assault.

CPS says Dion assaulted someone he knew. Police were contacted and during the investigation he was taken into custody, charged and released to appear in court on 13 September.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

A 46-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Wednesday and charged with domestic assault.

It is alleged that during an altercation with his ex-girlfriend, he assaulted the woman. The police were contacted and during the investigation he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

His name has not been released as it would identify the victim in the case.

LIFTING AT THE FACILITY

James McCormick, 46, of Cornwall, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with theft under $5,000.

The CPS says he went to a business on Ninth Street and removed goods, without attempting to pay as he left the store.

The police were contacted and an investigation ensued. McCormick was arrested, charged and released to appear in court on September 20.

OPERATION WHILE PROHIBITED

John Logan, 37, of Akwesasne, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with operating while prohibited. While stopped at the POE, he was observed driving a motor vehicle, despite being prohibited from doing so.

During the police investigation, he was taken into custody, charged and released to appear in court on September 20.

FAILURE TO ATTEND COURT

Tawnya Brunette, 34, of Cornwall, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with failing to appear in court.

On July 26, she failed to appear in court for a previous court offense and police were contacted to investigate.

Brunette was charged and released to appear in court on September 13.

Randy Campeau, 49, of Cornwall, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with failing to appear in court.

On Tuesday, he failed to appear in court for a drug-related offense and police were contacted to investigate.

Campeau was charged and released to appear in court on September 20.
